COZEN'S RIDGE
Mountain Traditional - Rendezvous - Fraser, Colorado
This 4,300 SF home was designed to capture the views of the Winter Park Ski Area and Byers Peak across the valley. The south-west facing lot dictated a covered deck to shield the central great room from too much late day sun. The covered deck becomes a wonderful outdoor room during the summer months. To bring light deep into the great room, dormer windows were placed high on the east and west sides of the room. The sunlight through these windows create interesting, ever changing patterns in the room. Simple timber trusses, wood ceilings, rough-hewn wood siding, wrought iron chandeliers, along with the stone fireplace and boulder hearth give this room a rustic mountain character.
On one side of the great room is located the master suite. Lying in bed, there is a terrific view to the ski area. The master bedroom has timber trusses, wood ceilings and a wrought iron chandelier as well. Custom barn doors are used at the closets. On the other side of the great room is located the kitchen. It views into the great room through a large timber framed opening. The focal point of the kitchen is a rusted metal hood over the stove. Timber trusses and wood ceilings are also found here. Between the kitchen and the three car garage are located a gear room pantry, mud area and a work space.
Downstairs, a large family room is centrally located, with wood beams and a wood ceiling. Under the master bedroom suite are located two bedroom suites. A junior master bedroom suite and a laundry room are located under the kitchen. Slate floors tie all the public spaces together, upstairs and down. A timber stair connects the two levels.
